The short answer is yes.  A study by The University System of Georgia concluded that kids who spent a year studying abroad experienced greater success. Here are some of the key findings of the study:

Graduation rates were higher for Georgia students who studied abroad than for those who stayed home. The six-year graduation rate averaged 89 percent for study-abroad students, as against 83 percent for the control group.

Grade-point averages ran a bit higher for students who had studied abroad, particularly among those with lower SAT scores. The mean GPA of study-abroad students with 1000 SAT scores (500 points each on the verbal and math section, close to the national average) was 3.22, a strong B, compared with 3.16 for those who had not studied abroad.

If you can afford to send your kids to a foreign country for a year you probably should. Not only will they learn about another culture but they will do better academically when they return.

According to a newly published study, fish-oil supplements may lower your risk of breast cancer.

Researchers at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center surveyed more than 35,000 postmenopausal women and discovered that those who took omega-3 fish-oil supplements had a 32 percent lower incidence of breast cancer.

In general people who take supplements tend to live a healthier lifestyle anyway so it is difficult to isolate the omega-3-fish oil supplements as the cause of the lowered incidence.  Other studies, namely a recent one from Harvard, also discovered health benefits of omega-3 fish oil so taking them is probably a good idea anyway.

A study by professor David Buss at the University of Texas claims that older women are more sexually active than younger women. The study suggests that as women approach menopause and infertility they are less likely to worry about bearing children and therefore more free to enjoy sex.  Many of the participants in the study were recruited from Craigslist which may skew results significantly.

The study  has evolutionary implications and comes at the heals of another study showing that older men are now more likely to contract sexually transmitted diseases as drugs to combat erectile dysfunction become more popular.

1. Add quality content
Make sure whatever your site shows is of interest to others. Add quality content frequently, keep your website updated and interesting. Google can tell how good your content is by the keywords and by how likely people are to click on your listing from the search results. If Google sends you a user and the user hits the back button on the browser right away, then they know your content stinks.
2. Get other websites to link to you
This is super important. In fact, this is WHY you add quality content in the first place. You want other websites to want to send users to you because you have good content. Google counts the number of links to your website and ranks you accordingly. It can be hard to get others to link to you on their own so you can create links to your site by writing articles on sites like OpenPressRoom.com and others.
3. Optimize your title tags and meta tags
Go through the HTML of every page and make sure the title tag matches the content of that page and the keywords you are targeting.
4. Add proper links to all your pages
Add clear navigation, breadcrumbs and a sitemap. That helps Google categorize the content on your site.

Columbia Sportswear Co.’s stock value reached it’s peak at almost $70 in 2007 and fell ever since together with the rest of the economy. The past six months however have been particularly good for the footwear and apparel company. With the purchase of Zappos by Internet giant ebay, Columbia shoes has seen a boost in sales and popularity.

The stock has been upgraded in status and the trend is looking up.  To add more interest to the brand, Columbia apparel recently announced a lower-priced line of products to appeal to a larger market.
