Playing a better tennis player can be rather frustrating. I have been playing a much more advanced tennis player and now am looking for some ideas on what I need to do to improve my game.
Here is what I have come up with:
1. Hit to the opponents opposite hand.
2. Hit at his feet.
3. Hit directly at him.
I have searched through YouTube.com looking for tips on Advanced tennis and have not seen anything really useful yet.
Another important tip is to tire your opponent out. I have found this is a hard lesson to learn. After volleying so long with people, I find myself in match playing hitting to them. I have to constantly remind myself to hit AWAY from my opponent. Make them run. Once they are on the run, this opens up the door for so many options.
Second Serve. I have found this is the most important part of my game. I rarely practice my second serve. I am rather optimistic and always feel that my first serve will go in. Unfortunately this is true for only half of the time. After my missed first serve, he can poach the second serve and normally place it anywhere he wants. Which in turn makes me run like heck trying to catch up with the ball. I can generally get the first shot, but after that I am dead meat.
Mix it up. I have found this really works. Try to hit one ball soft and the next ball hard. Vary this throughout your match. You will keep the opponent wondering when a hard ball is coming and when a soft one is. You also have to be careful and disguise these shots. Don’t over emphasize this disguise either as it will only make you look ridiculous out there.
