The University of Connecticut basketball team (Uconn Huskies) lost in their first game of the Big East conference last night. The final score was 127 – 117. Jim Boeheim’s Syracuse Orangemen once again stepped up in the important game and figured out a way to win.
This was one of the most exciting games I have ever seen and will go down in my memory as such. This was also the longest game in Big East Basketball history.
History aside, I would like to congratulate Jim Boeheim and his team for keeping the composure, even with losing 7 players to fouls. This turned out being smart tactic as the Uconn Huskies have always been known to be a poor foul throw shooting team.
This was also a disheartening loss for me as I have been a major Uconn Huskie and Jim Calhoun fan since the early 90’s. It just seems like the better the team gets every year, the more they are choking at the end of the games. If memory serves me, I do not believe Uconn has won a game in the Big East Conference and Madison Square Gardens in 3 years running.
Does Uconn still deserve a number 1 seed in the tournament? It breaks my heart to say no, they do not.
